Radio's Wild Bill Hickock was basically the same format that was filmed and syndicated to television, ca. 1951-56--a familiar western scenario used by producers of Hopalong Cassidy and The Cisco Kid in which a strong, fearless hero is accompanied by a comic sidekick. The plots were simple; to hear oneis to hear all. Wild Bill and Jingles would encounter some generic owlhoots: there'd by some fisticuffs, some gun play, Jingles would wield his big belly as a weapon, Wild Bill would punch it out with the ringleader, and the heroes would emerge triumphant. Then it was back on their horses (Buckshot for Wiold Bill; Joker for Jingles) and out on the trail for another week. _{John Dunning}
