Prior to joining NBC in 1949, that network utilized the talents of Dave Garroway to host a 1947 summer repalcement show. Garroway was working as a disc jockey on The 1160 Club broadcast over Chicago's WMAQ when he was selected to emcee the warm weather variety series. The Dave Garroway Show premiered on July 22, 1947; joining Dave on the weekly half hour were vocalists Jack Haskell and Vivian Martin, the orchestra of Joseph Gallicchio, and guest stars.
